Community Event at The Spot on West 5th Street
Thursday, June 27, CAA hosted its community happy hour event in Downtown Cincinnati at The Spot on West Fifth. The social session was held as a means to bring long-time supporters and those who may have never heard of us before together to learn more. An estimated 150 guest and staff filled the 6,500 sq ft room to share who they are and what they do. Head Start provided colorful self-portraits adding a playful, yet artistic touch to the surrounding exposed brick walls.
Our CEO/President, Mark Lawson, kicked off the event with a passionate speech about the changes that are happening at CAA. Our agency was presented a generous donation from Delta Sigma Theta for $500 to help kick off fundraising efforts. The presentation was followed up with a compelling feature video highlighting the everyday impact being made here at CAA. Pieces—a company focused on therapeutic artistic engagement and team-building—kept everyone connected throughout the night. Guests and staff who purchased a raffle ticket worked as a community to paint and piece together a large piece of artwork. Our raffle ambassadors raised $1,063.38 in raffle ticket sales. Pepper Foundation helped sponsor the event with a charitable contribution of $1,500.
GCMI’s Executive Director, Willie Hill, connected with local restaurants and small businesses to help cater the event. Participating partners included Revolution Rotisserie, Chef B Creations and Mazunte. Cincinnati’s First Call Bartending crafted the perfect signature drink, while perfectly bite-sized buntinis from Nothing Bundt Cakes topped off the night.
A big thanks to the women at Queen City Destinations who worked effortlessly to transform the event space into an incredible space to network and mingle.
CAA would like to thank all who attended our first ever community happy hour event— we couldn’t accomplish our mission without you. Your continued support and contributions make it possible for us to make a positive change in the lives of those we serve!
