March 28, 2024 - Emergency Rental Assistance Program Closing Out
CINCINNATI, OH (March 28, 2024) – The Community Action Agency’s (CAA) Home Relief Program will not accept applications for rental assistance or property tax relief after April 1, 2024. Both programs have collectively received thousands of applications since the beginning of the year. The rental assistance program currently has a little over 900 applications waiting to be processed before the official end of the grant cycle which is April 30, 2024. To ensure intake workers can get through all applicants currently waiting to be assisted, the decision has been made to discontinue accepting applications.
“This was not an easy decision, because we know that just because the funding is coming to an end, it doesn’t mean that the need has,” said Erik Thomas, VP of Community Services. “We want to make sure that we do get through all of the applications so that we do help the clients who are in our system before the close of the grant.”
Since the start of the Home Relief Program, propelled by COVID, CAA has kept more than 8,000 families in their homes, expending nearly $35M in Hamilton County for eviction prevention and property tax assistance. CAA will accept applications until April 1, 2024, before officially closing the program. Applicants can send their application to csdepartment@cincy-caa.org, CAA will process any application that has been submitted by the April 1 deadline.
