Community Action Agency, in partnership with Cincinnati State and Great Oaks, is offering a unique opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications in broadband technology. With this program, you can become a Certified Premises Cabling Technician (CPCT), a Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT), and gain OSHA 10 certification to prepare for some of the most sought-after roles in the telecommunications and broadband industries.

CFOT vs. CPCT Certifications

The Fiber Optic Association (FOA) offers two foundational certifications designed for technicians in the telecommunications field:

Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT):

  • Focuses on the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) required to design, install, test, and operate fiber optic networks.
  • Ideal for professionals specializing in fiber optic infrastructure.

Certified Premises Cabling Technician (CPCT):

  • Designed for technicians working with copper, fiber, and wireless technologies for premises cabling, such as Local Area Networks (LANs) and security systems.
  • Perfect for roles in premises cabling installation and maintenance.

 

Program Requirements

To participate in the program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be unemployedunderemployed, or a dislocated worker.
  • Be 18 years or older.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Be a resident of Hamilton County.
